New conference to empower female leadership in public technology

The conference Women in Public Technology is the latest addition to the Professional Women series and will be held on 27 March 2024

The UK technology sector is a thriving and dynamic industry, but despite its vibrant and innovative nature, female representation remains dishearteningly low. According to official data, only 26% of the three million individuals employed in this industry are women and a mere 5% hold leadership positions. This trend is particularly pronounced in public technology, where gender leadership gaps persist, hindering the progress of women in this traditionally male-dominated arena.

Responding to the need for specialised support for next-generation leaders in this field, Dods Events Diversity & Inclusion is launching Women in Public Technology, a new addition to the Professional Women conference series.

The Professional Women conference series explores the role of women in leadership, with experienced and inspirational speakers offering practical advice and coaching to aspiring female leaders on how to develop their careers further and become the leaders they want to be. Women in Public Technology is the sixth conference in the series, joining events for female leaders in local government, policing, communication, public finance, and education. Visit the series website for more details on the upcoming events.

Women in Public Technology has been designed to break down the visible and invisible barriers that have impeded the advancement of women in the sector, providing a platform for current and future leaders to discuss the role of women and address the challenges they face in leadership.

Kiren Kaur, head of portfolio at Dods Events Diversity & Inclusion, expressed enthusiasm for the new addition to the Professional Women conference series, stating Women in Public Technology is a critical step towards fostering diversity and inclusion within the technology sector. "By addressing the unique challenges faced by women in public technology, we hope to pave the way for increased representation and leadership opportunities. We invite all professionals in the sector to join this empowering and inspirational event."

The Women in Public Technology conference will take place on 27 March 2024 in London.
